Adrian Pucey is a minor character in the Harry Potter series. We don’t know much about him, particularly his life after Hogwarts.

Adrian is a Slytherin and is presumed to be around 2 years older than Harry. He is a Chaser on the Slytherin Quidditch team and is seen attempting to score points in a few matches throughout the series. He is present for some infamous Quidditch moments, including the match where Harry Potter’s arm is shattered by a Bludger.

Adrian may have joined Professor Umbridge’s Inquisitorial Squad in Order of the Phoenix, along with many other Slytherin students. However, nothing suggests that he went on to become a Death Eater, and we don’t see him fighting in the Final Battle of Hogwarts.

Adrian Pucey Birthplace

Adrian Pucey Character Bio

Not much is known about Adrian Pucey before he arrives at Hogwarts, including his birthplace. We can guess that he was born sometime between September 1977 and August 1979, placing him in his third year when Harry starts at Hogwarts in Sorceror’s Stone.

Adrian Pucey Parents

We don’t know anything about Adrian Pucey’s parents. It could be that his parents were supporters of Lord Voldemort; many people in Draco Malfoy’s inner circle are children of Death Eaters. However, we don’t know this for sure.

It’s also unknown whether he is a half-blood or a pureblood. It is unlikely that he is a Muggleborn, as Draco Malfoy would be unlikely to associate with him.

Adrian Pucey Physical Traits

Adrien Pucey isn’t described in the books. In the movies, he is played by a tall actor with dark hair.

Adrian Pucey Early Life

Because details on Adrian Pucey’s life are so few, it’s hard to tell what his early life was like. We can guess that Adrian spent some of his childhood flying on a broomstick or practicing Quidditch, as he later becomes a Chaser for the Slytherin Quidditch team.

Adrien Pucey Hogwarts Years

Adrian Pucey HP

There’s not much to know about Pucey’s first couple of years at Hogwarts.

Year 3

We see Pucey for the first time during Sorceror’s Stone when Harry flies in his first Quidditch match: ‘That’s Adrien Pucey speeding off towards the goalposts, but he’s blocked by a second bludger …’ (1) Presumably he was blocked by one of the Weasley twins acting as Beaters for Gryffindor. Later in the match, we see Pucey drop the Quaffle in surprise after noticing the Golden Snitch.

Year 4

In Chamber of Secrets, the Slytherin Quidditch team is given new brooms by Draco Malfoy’s father, which Hermione believes is Malfoy’s attempt to buy his way onto the team. Presumably, Pucey was there for this exchange, and he also witnessed Ron accidentally cursing himself. (2)

George whacks a Bludger in the direction of Pucey again in the Gryffindor vs. Slytherin match in Harry’s second year. However, the Bludger changes direction in mid-air, heading towards Harry instead. We later see him attempting to score against Gryffindor keeper Oliver Wood. Pucey is present when Harry breaks his arm and might be watching when Professor Lockhart decides to ‘fix’ Harry’s arm himself, with disastrous consequences.

There are no more Quidditch matches in Harry’s second year thanks to the opening of the Chamber of Secrets, which means we don’t see Pucey again in this book.

Year 5

We don’t see Pucey in Prisoner of Azkaban. The highly-anticipated final match between Gryffindor and Slytherin doesn’t mention Pucey.

Notably, the Slytherin team plays aggressively during this match, so the fact that Pucey isn’t mentioned suggests that he doesn’t join in with the cheating seen by the rest of his team. Either that or Pucey was replaced by another Chaser instead.

Year 6

We don’t see anything of Pucey in his sixth year. The Quidditch cup is canceled because of the Triwizard Tournament, so we don’t see the Slytherin team playing.

Year 7

In Pucey’s last year, we see him playing in the Slytherin team for captain Montague. He scores against Gryffindor keeper Ron Weasley at least once. (3) As Harry is removed from the team, we don’t get to see much of Pucey from this point on. We can presume he joined the Inquisitorial Squad, Professor Umbridge’s team of students in charge of cracking down on misbehavior, as many other Slytherin students did.

Adrian Pucey After Hogwarts Years

Adrian Pucey After Hogwarts Years

We don’t see Pucey mentioned again, so it’s hard to tell what happened to him. He probably kept out of the way during the Second War, as we don’t see him mentioned in any of the key battles. This suggests that he did not become a Death Eater like Malfoy, nor did he fight for Voldemort’s side unofficially, like Crabbe and Goyle.

Adrian Pucey Family

Nothing is known about Adrian Pucey’s life after Hogwarts, so we don’t find out if he goes on to have a family of his own.

Adrian Pucey Magical Abilities and Special Skills

The only thing we know Adrian Pucey can do is play Quidditch. We don’t see him scoring a lot of points, however, and he may have been replaced during Harry’s third year, so he could be an average player rather than a particularly skilled player.

Adrian Pucey Wand

We don’t know anything about Adrian’s wand, other than the fact that he likely bought it at Ollivander’s wand shop like most Hogwarts students.
