Scorpius Malfoy is not a character from the original Harry Potter series. However, it is still interesting to find out what became of the son of Draco Malfoy in later years after our Hogwarts characters became adults.

Scorpius was a character written into a stage play by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and here’s what we know so far.

Scorpius Malfoy was born somewhere between 1st September 2005 and 31st August 2006. His exact birth date was never revealed during the story of Harry Potter and the cursed child.

Scorpius was born into the Malfoy family by his parents, Draco Malfoy and Astoria Greengrass.

Despite Scorpus being a brave and intelligent individual, he was, in fact, incredibly insecure and quite a lonely soul. He also was believed to have suffered from depression during his childhood and throughout his years at Hogwarts.

He was often described as a pretty geeky and nerdy boy and was known to be somewhat of a loner. He was a bit of an outcast who relied on his romantic and lustful personality to lighten the loads in his life.

One thing he was known for was his crush on Rose Granger-Weasley, who was his best friend’s cousin. He was very aware that she was out of his league. However, this did not stop him from being persistent in his chase.

Scorpius was known to be quite a jealous person. He was occasionally a bit of a bully in certain situations, meaning he wasn’t always the most popular person with other students.

Scorpius carried with him a belief, which was, in fact, not true that there was a possibility of him being the secret son of Lord Voldemort.

Scorpius Malfoy Birthplace

Scorpius Malfoy was born in Great Britain between September 2005 and August 2006, his actual birthday was never confirmed as a fact, but there are some rumors that his birthday could have been on the 17th of May 2006.

He was raised in Malfoy Manor.

Scorpius Malfoy Parents and Family

Scorpius Malfoy Family

Scorpius Malfoy was very close with both his Mother and his father. His Mother, Astoria Greengrass, passed away in 2019 due to a curse on her ancestor. Scorpius was devastated by the passing of his Mother. He always believed that she saw the best in himself and his Father Draco.

The relationship between Scorpus and Draco was perhaps not quite as close as that with his Mother, but this did not stop him from loving and admiring his father very much. He often relied on Draco to help him in tricky situations and save him.

He confided a lot in his father and relied on him heavily for support following the death of his Mother.

Scorpius was raised by his parents with a lot of affection and love. The kind of upbringing that neither had received themselves as children. They cared greatly about his well-being and would have done anything for him, although he was undoubtedly not a spoilt child.

He was never taught about the family’s history of prejudice against anyone Muggle-born.

Scorpius Malfoy Physical Traits

Scorpius Malfoy looked very much like his Father Draco. So he carried many of the same physical traits, such as the familiar white-blonde hair and light gray eyes. He has the same small pointed features, sometimes referred to as rodent-like.

At the age of eleven, Scorpius looked almost identical to how his father looked when he was also a young boy.

Scorpius Malfoy Early Life

Scorpius Malfoy’s early years were some of loneliness and isolation. He grew up at Malfoy Manor, where he had little to no interaction with any one of his own age. He did not start to meet with other children regularly until 2017, when he began his first year at Hogwarts.

During his time spent as a young boy in Malfoy Manor, he managed to read the entire Malfoy collection of books and taught himself a lot about the Wizarding World, the Second Wizarding War, and the famous Harry Potter.

Meeting His New Friends

Scorpios began his Hogwarts journey in 2017. He was accompanied by both of his parents to Kings Cross Station, where he would climb aboard the Hogwarts Express and start his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Other students starting at the same time who later played a significant role throughout his school life were Albus Potter, the son of Harry Potter, and Rose Granger-Weasley, the daughter of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Rose had been forewarned and discouraged by her father, Ron, from getting too friendly with Scorpius. She was told to always try and beat him in every test and exam.

Once aboard the Hogwarts express, Scorpios found himself in an empty compartment and sat by himself. This soon changed when Albus and Rose entered the carriage and joined him. He introduced himself rather awkwardly and told the pair that he had sweets to share amongst the three of them.

Rose eventually decided to leave, perhaps her father’s words replaying in her head, but Albus stayed with Scorpius, making a joke that he was only waiting for the sweets.

Along the journey to Hogwarts, they began to share their stories of their parents, and this was where their friendship first started.

When they arrived at Hogwarts, as expected, Scorpius, like the rest of his family before him, was told by the sorting hat that he would be placed in house Slytherin.

The Start of Term

At the start-of-term feast, following their meeting on the train, Scorpius chose to go and sit next to Albus.

Scorpius had quite a hard time at Hogwarts. The other students knew all about his family and their unsavory history. They often joked about the Malfoy heritage, but this only made the relationship between himself and Albus grow stronger, as Albus was mocked for being a Potter who was placed in Slytherin.

Scorpius and Albus soon became great friends, and Scorpius often encouraged Albus to ignore the bullying from the other students.

Not long into the school year, Scorpius began to develop feelings for Rose Granger-Weasley; sadly, she did not have the same feelings towards him.

Year 3

Just before starting his third year at Hogwarts, during the Summer of 2019, Scorpius’ Mother sadly passed away due to a curse placed on her ancestor. This left Scorpius heartbroken and grief-stricken. He relied a lot on his Father, Draco, to get through this difficult time. When he met Albus on the platform while boarding the train to school that year, he asked his friend to accompany him to the funeral.

Year 4

Before starting his fourth year at Hogwarts, Albus had mentioned to his father that he was having a difficult time at school. Harry took this to mean that Scorpius was the cause of this and told him to stop associating with Scorpius. Albus refused and continued to see his best friend.

The Time Turner

While aboard the Hogwarts Express, Albus revealed to Scorpius that he met with Amos Diggory and that the Time-Turner had been discovered. Between the two, they concocted a plan to retrieve the Time-Turner, and travel back in time to save Cedric Diggory, who passed away during the Triwizard Championship in 1995 at the hands of Lord Voldemort.

They attempted to jump from the moving train by climbing the roof. They were spotted by the trolley witch, who stopped them from leaving the train.

Further down the line, they found Delphini, aka Delphi, the daughter of Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange; she agreed to help the young wizards.

The two friends then traveled to St Oswald’s Home for Old Witches and Wizards, meeting with Amos Diggory and Delphi. They formed a plan, and with Delphis help, the three teenagers used Polyjuice Potion to disguise themselves as Ron, Harry, and Hermione so that they could sneak into the Ministry of Magic. They then proceed to steal the Time-Turner.

After leaving Delphi behind, Scorpius and Albus used the Time-Turner to travel back in time to the moment the first task of the Triwizard Tournament was taking place. They disguised themselves as Durmstrang students and intervened on Cedric’s part by making him misplace his wand.

The Alternate Reality

What actually unfolded is that they had unknowingly created an alternate reality, where Cedric, in fact, got killed. Still, Hermione and Ron never got together, which meant Rose was never born, and now did not exist. Albus was not placed into House Slytherin and is told he must terminate his friendship with Scorpius.

After this, the boys returned to everyday school life, where Albus and Scorpius were no longer friends, but they reconciled when Delphi turned up at Hogwarts. They decided that the best thing to do would be to try and fix their mistake; they hoped that by intervening with the second Triwizard task, they may be able to save Cedric.

This time, they succeeded, but when they returned to the present, they realized that they had created yet another alternate reality. Cedric had survived the altercation with Lord Voldemort, but he had, in fact, become a Death Eater. He killed Neville Longbottom, who had played a crucial part in the demise of Voldemort. This meant that Harry Potter had been killed, and Albus now did not exist. This left Scorpius to try and put things right by himself, without the help of his best friend.

In this new, alternate reality, Draco was now the head of magical law enforcement, and Dolores Umbridge was the Headmistress of Hogwarts. Scorpius was now known as the “Scorpion King.”

With the assistance of resistance fighters Rom, Hermione, and Severus Snape, Scorpius managed to go back and change time again. He used a Sheild Charm, which would stop his other self from intervening. He was successful, and Albus and Rose were now back in existence.

The Truth About Delphi

Scorpius and Albus returned to present times. They appeared in the Great Lake, where their parents discovered them. With Harry’s blessing, the pair were allowed to remain friends. Scorpius reveals that the Time-Turner had been lost in the lake, and between them, they decide to find it and destroy it. They asked Delphi to help them do this.

Scorpius soon realized that he recalled seeing Delphi in one of the alternate realities, where he remembered finding out that she was raised by the Rowles, who were Death Eaters. Delphi soon revealed that she never intended on destroying the Time-Turner, and she was hoping to use it to bring back Lord Voldemort. She snapped their wands and killed Craig Bowker Jnr, who was sent to look for them.

Delphi then forced Albus and Scorpius to return to the third part of the Triwizard Tournament for the third time.

Knowing that the time turner would only keep them in the past for five minutes, Albus and Scorpius tried to stall Delphi and came across Cedric Diggory in the maze. Cedric assisted the boys and retrieved the Time-Turner, believing this was part of the tournament.

Delphi managed to get the Time-Turner back and took them back to the 30th of October 1981, the day before Harry Potters’s parents were murdered. She then proceeded to destroy the Time-Turner and abandon Albus and Scorpius.

Albus and Scorpius believed Delphi would now murder Harry herself so that the curse wouldn’t rebound on Voldemort. The boys visited Godric’s Hollow, where they saw Lilly and James Potter with the baby, Harry.

Albus and Scorpius used Harry’s invisibility cloak to send a message through time to warn everybody in the future about what was going to happen. Harry, Ron, Draco, and Ginny managed to decipher the news and used another Time-Turner to go back and join their children in 1981.

Triumph

A duel soon broke out between Harry and Delphi, and Scorpius and the others jumped in to help Harry; between them, they managed to stop Delphi. The gang then returned to the present.

Albus and Scorpius returned to everyday life after returning from their traumatic experiences with the Time-Turner. Scorpius plucked up the courage to ask out Rose, but she turned him down, though he wasn’t too put out, as they had still formed a special bond. Rose now referred to him as the Scorpion King.

Scorpius Malfoy After Hogwarts Years

Not much is known about what happened to Scorpius after his years at Hogwarts. That is where the story ended. We know that he eventually got what he desired and married Rose Granger-Weasley. They went on to have three children.
